Prayer for Open Borders Update

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As we are writing this we are very much encouraged in our hearts because our God is moving by His Holy Spirit across the borders in the Balkans. Thank you for joining us each Saturday for fasting and praying so that the borders of the Balkans will be open in time for the “Balkan Call” 2020 to take place in Sofia, Bulgaria. It is a privilege to be before God’s throne together with you and to know that you are with us in heart and spirit. Physical distance does not matter; this reminds us of the early church where the believers were one in heart and mind (Acts 4:32). There has begun to be an answer from God, because from 1st September it is permitted for EU citizens and citizens of Turkey to enter Bulgaria without a test and quarantine. We praise the Lord for this and we are reminded that “the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).

So the “Balkan Call” 2020 will take place from 5th to 7th of November at the Faith Church in Sofia.

All the relevant information will be available on the “Balkan Call” web page, but it is undergoing a complete overhaul at the moment. Apart from all the information about this year’s “Balkan Call” there will also be an archive with audio and video material from past events. The address of the web page is balkancall.org. We are quite excited about this and would appreciate your prayers for this.

During the time leading up to the “Balkan Call” there will be a Balkan prayer event. From 3rd to 4th October there will be a 24h online prayer burn with specific focus on all twelve Balkan nations taking part. We hope that each of the 12 nations will cover a 2 hour slot with praise, worship and prayer. There have been many prayer burns so far, but none with each Balkan nation present with the purpose of lifting up the name of Jesus and to bless and pray for the other nations. This is certainly history in the making. We will send the link to you in due course.

We thank you for joining us in prayer for all these things. As God’s people we can bring all our requests before Him with thanksgiving for the fact that the enemy has already been defeated and that the victory was assured when Jesus called out on the cross “It is finished.” So let us press on with this certainty in our hearts, rejoicing in our Lord Jesus because He is wonderful.
Every blessing in Christ. Yours in Him,

The Balkan Call Core Team
